PRS se Acoustic guitar

PRS se Acoustic

We had a nice PRS Acoustic guitar come in that although didn’t need a full setup, the customer felt the string gauge he was using was a bit too heavy. We suggested going down from the 12-53 to 11-52. Although not a massive change  in gauge, over the whole set of strings can make a fairly big difference to how they feel under the fingers.

We removed the old strings and then checked all the guitars hardware was tight. We then cleaned the fret board with lemon oil, which rehydrated the fret board. We cleaned and polished the instrument and then fitted the new 11 gauge strings.

With the new strings fitted we checked the neck relief finding it needed adjusting due to the lower tension on the neck. After this the action was checked which was ok and didn’t needing altering.

We returned the guitar to the customer, who was happy with the lighter set of strings that had been fitted.
