Yamaha Acoustic Guitar

Yamaha Acoustic

We had a Yamaha acoustic guitar come in that needed a setup, but the customer was also preparing for his first gig and wanted a way of amplifying it. After discussing a couple of options we decided on a TGI soundhole pickup. These can be fitted as a temporary fit or hardwired in, which is how the customer wanted the pickup installed.

With the old strings removed, we drilled and opened up the strap button hole to allow the jack socket to fit in place. The jack socket input also acts as a strap button for a strap. The pickup was then fitted in the soundhole, and all the wiring secured inside the guitar.

We then cleaned the instrument and lemon oiled the fret board, then fitted some D’Addario strings.

Once we had taken some measurements on the setup, we adjusted everything to get the guitar playing at its best.

The guitar was returned to a very happy customer, and I’m pleased to report he had a very successful first gig!
