Broken Guitar bridge

Epiphone Acoustic Guitar

Imagine the sickening feeling of looking forward to spending some time playing your guitar, only to find the bridge had completely come away from the body! Well we had a customer come in with that very problem.

On closer inspection, we found that the bridge had been glued directly to the lacquer and not the wood top of the guitar, so there wasn’t much holding the bridge to the guitar.

We cleaned any lacquer off the underside of the bridge, and removed any paint and lacquer off the guitar top where the bridge would sit. Once there were two good, clean wooden faces, we applied wood glue and then clamped the bridge to the guitar. This was then left to dry for a few days.

Once the glue had set, we also fitted two chrome screws to the bridge to give extra strength.

We fitted new strings, and gave the guitar a set up. The guitar played great and was solid and stable.

We returned the guitar to a very happy customer.
