D’Addario XT Guitar strings
I’ve been a D’Addario string user on my acoustic and electric guitars and also on my mandolin for many years now. On all my electrics I use the XL strings and have always found them to be consistent in tone, intonation, feel and life span.
When I was asked by D’Addario to try a set of their new XT strings, I jumped at the chance.
The strings use D’Addario’s high carbon steel cores with an extended lifespan treatment. This gives the strings an extended lifespan and extended tuning stability of a coated string, but retaining the tone and feel of an uncoated string.
I fitted them to my Les Paul, and the first thing I noticed was that the guitar unplugged sounded louder and fuller. I plugged the guitar in and the strings felt great under the fingers, and as with all D’Addario strings sounded great. I played the Les Paul with the XT strings at a gig the following night after fitting them, and even with some hard playing in a hot sweaty club, they sounded great, and the tuning stability was faultless.
I’ve done some practices since the gig, and the strings still feel the same as they did when I first fitted them.
A great new addition to the D’Addario string line, and if you wanted to try them out, come in and grab a set.
