MXR Uni-vibe
The MXR Uni-vibe is a smaller footprint sized pedal of the famous Chorus/Vibrato pedal used in the 60’s by Jimi Hendrix and Robin Trower. The pedal has three controls – Level to set the volume of the effect, Speed to set how fast the effect pulses and depth to adjust how full the effect sounds. The Chorus side of the pedal has a very different sound to the three dimensional sounds a modern day Chorus effect produces. The Uni-vibe was an effect that tried to replicate the sound of a Leslie speaker and is closer in sound to a Phaser effect. The Uni-vibe has a throbbing pulse that when used at slower speeds which can be heard on Robin Trowers Bridge of Sighs creates a slow and dreamy sound. When used at faster speeds which can be heard on Jimi Hendrix’s Machine Gun the sound is much more aggressive in the way it’s used. The Vibrato side is activated by a button and changes the effect from from a swirly psychedelic sound in the Chorus mode to a pitch movement that ranges from mild note movement to seasick inducing wobble.
The pedal features true bypass switching and runs from either a 9volt battery or 9volt mains power (not included).
