Here’s a guitar that came in, although it had really unusual fret inlays, it didn’t play well at all. Loose and bent frets, and most of them not level made it virtually unplayable! Now, after some time in our workshops, the guitar not only looks great, but plays great too. So, what was involved in restoring the guitar?
The first job was to remove the frets, they were bent and there was no way of reshaping and crowning them, even if we had just levelled them.
The reason for the bent frets was down to the pearloid inlay fret grooves not being cut properly to allow the frets to fit into them. After some painstaking time, the fret grooves were recut to allow the new fret wire to fit properly into them. The frets were then levelled and shaped.
With the fret work done, the guitar was then cleaned, restrung and setup. The guitar finally being returned to a very happy customer.
So if your guitar needs either the frets dressed, levelled and reshaped or a full refret, come in and see us and we can get your guitar playing the best it can.
