When you bring your guitar in for a re-string to Roberts Instrument Repairs, we don’t just take off the old rusty strings and fit a new set straight on. There’s a little more to it than that.
First we remove the old strings, and then we check and tighten all the hardware fitted to the guitar. We thoroughly clean and on rosewood fretboards use lemon oil to stop the wood drying out, causing it to crack. We then clean the string grooves in the nut to make sure the strings can run through them freely. We give the body, neck and headstock a clean and polish using Dunlops Platinum 65 Deep cleaner. This product is made with Montan wax which is a natural fossilised plant wax containing no silicon.
After the instrument has been prepared, we then fit the string brand and gauge of the customers choice. The strings are then tuned to the customers specified tuning and stretched in, retuning as necessary.
Returning a meticulously clean, and immaculately presented instrument to the customer.
