MXR Echoplex Delay Pedal

The MXR Echoplex Delay is a vintage tape style delay pedal based on the legendary and highly coveted EP-3 Echoplex used on countless hit recordings since the early 1960’s. The original delay unit relied on real tape heads to manipulate the input weather it be guitar, vocals or keyboard. The effect proved to be a huge success and the originals still exist in high end studios today due to its pristine and warm repeats along with its subtle modulation on the delay trails. When effect pedals first came on to the market, many companies struggled to capture the fidelity and character of early tape delay units, MXR have always been known for producing incredible effects and the Echoplex is no exception. With its simple three control layout and phenomenal reproduction of the original tone, the MXR Ecoplex is a must have for any delay junkie out there. You have the usual controls which you’ll find on most delays including sustain (repeats) volume and the length of over all length of the delay (up to 750ms) which is an impressive amount for a pedal of its kind. Hidden under the volume control is a push-pull switch which can control the ‘age’ of the tape when engaged in the up position. This is incredibly useful when it comes to tailoring your repeats and delay brightness in a recording mix or when playing live to ensure the delay really cuts through. Over all i would recommend this pedal to anybody who’s curious about expanding their delay collection or if you’re getting into your very first delay, at just over £200 the Ecoplex sits nicely between the affordable and boutique categories of effects so you don’t need to spend the earth to get a true reproduction of an EP-3.
