The TC electronic Flashback delay has redefined the concept and innovation of the modern delay pedal since its release. In that time it has found its way on to many professional players pedal boards and can be heard on hundreds of recordings around the world. Seasoned players such as Steve Morse, John Pertruchi and Guthrie Govan have been using the Flashback Delay almost exclusively due to its incredible tonal spectrum and dynamic range. Take a look at any modern pedalboard from the session guitarist to the arena touring pro and you’re bound to spot a Flashback delay
So why is it so good? What has made the TC Flashback an industry standard pedal in such a short space of time? For starters, the pedal offers an incredible 10 variations of delay to choose from and also includes a single track looper with 30 seconds of recording time. The delay engines in this pedal are astounding, with everything from pristine digital delays found in the legendary 2290 setting (one of TC’s earliest and most renowned rack mount effects) to the saturated warmth of the analog and tape delay. As well as these popular options there are also a few unique sounds which are exclusive to the Flashback such as the ‘Mod’ setting, which adds a gorgeous layer of chorused modulation to the delay lines as well as reverse delay; which reverses your initial signal and plays it back to you, perfect for those shoe gaze and alt rockers. Coupled with its near indestructible housing, the TC Electronic Flashback will always be a staple on my board and continues to wow players across the world. Whether it’s simplicity or tone sculpting you’re looking for, this pedal has it all.
